Species - Cambri
next
Cambri are one of the two races adapted to crushing gravity and gas giant planets. Again, their starships are tough but lack really powerful weapons. Finding enough attractive real estate is always a problem. Reproductive rate is low.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Cambri are intolerant of all atmospheres except hydrogen and helium. They can make do with less than crushing gravity, especially after an Era 5 Colony Improvement. They compete for living space with Meridi and The Hive.
Facility costs are expensive, except for industrial facilities which are the cheapest in the galaxy.
There is a good selection of Hull Types with plenty of shields and a reasonable amount of weapon mounts.
Shields are excellent, nearly as good as Meridi shields, and there is a valuable improvement but you have to wait until Era 10 to get it.
Propulsion systems are fairly slow and don't get any better.
Astro-Navigation is good and gets a small boost in Era 4.
ECM is good, flexible and gets improved in Era 6.
Offensive Projectiles are primarily torpedoes and best at close range. They are improved in Era 8.
Defensive Projectiles do not come on-line until Era 4 and the smaller weapons even later in Era 6. They are fairly good and improved both in Eras 7 and 8.
Beam Weapons are the only option in early eras. They are pretty good.
Military Improvements make a big difference; rate of fire, penetration, interception, ECM, deflection and evasion can be improved.
Colony Improvements are good. The big reductions in R&D facility costs in Eras 7 and 9 may be a little late for maximum effect.
SP costs for Era jumps are average until Era 5 then get expensive. The pace of R&D is moderate.
Cambri take a peaceful diplomatic stance which makes them receptive to unity pacts (very desirable!) and alliances as well as neutrality. Their poor trade rating, which doesn't get any better, may make diplomatic relationships one-sided (the wrong side!).
Base Rate of Fire is 35. Below average.

Default Production Queue
The first couple of times you play Cambri, I recommend you configure the default production queue as follows, especially in the early game.
I1 / I2 / R1 / D1 / I3 / R2 / D2 / S1 / I4 / R3 / R4 / D3 / S2 / M / C / D4 / S3 / S4
