A Wolf by the Ears - Tournament

Postby Robjess » Sun Jun 06, 2004 10:18 am

Registrations are sought for a PBEM Tournament based upon Lee Elmendorf's 'A Wolf by the Ears' variant of the AtD battle for KP.

The Tournament is scheduled to commence on 8th July - this gives us a 1 month registration period. Brackets will be determined based upon the number of players who register. Register early to ensure your spot.

Scenario setttings are as followings:

Scenario: A Wolf by the Ears
KP Version: 1.11
Scenario Version: Will be released just prior to the commencement of the Tournament. Note that you must own the AtD battleset to take part in the Tournament. If you do not currently own it, you may purchase a copy from the Matrix Games.
Weather: Normal
Combat Advisor: On
Security: On
Replay: On
Unknown Units: Off
All other settings are Normal

You should not register to enter this Tournament unless you are able to complete 1 turn at least every 2-3 days (minor exceptions are allowable).

Lee has been designated Tournament Master for this Tournament. To Register, send an email to the Lee (lelmendo@nycap.rr.com) and provide the following information:
Put "Wolf Tournament" in the subject field of the email.
Your Real Name
Your Run5 Forum Name
Your Run5 Combat Leagues Ladder Name
Your Email address that you want the tournament PBEM files sent to.

Run5 Medals will be awarded for participation in this Tournament. A new Tour of Duty medal will be created and made available shortly.

Other rules and things you should be aware of:

- All players must be registered on the Run5 Combat Leagues Ladder
- All games must be based upon the most recent patch available at the commencement of each Round (so in other words if a new patch is made available mid Tournament then all players must adopt and install that new patch when they commence their next round). The Patch 1.11 must be inmstalled and used for Round 1.
- Advancment into Round 2 and subsequent rounds will be based upon the results of the previous round.
- All games must be played in PBEM Security Mode
- All units must be set to hidden
- Combat advisor must be set to on
- All other settings must be set to Normal
- Round 1 opponents will be randomly selected by Run5 staff, and once annouced are final
- Subsequent round opponents will be determined by previous round winners
- Players should not register and enter the tournament unless they are able to completed a turn at least each 2-3 days. Preferrably 1 turn a day if possible.
- All players should seek to keep to the above time frames - or Run5 staff/Tournament Master may determine a winner based upon the circumstances of the case if any games are significantly delaying the progress of the Tournament.
- These games are automatically eligible for reporting on the Run5 Combat Leagues Ladder - at the discretion of the winner.
- The winner will be declared Run5 'Wolf' Champ.. until the next Tournament.

Hi Lee,
It seems from Robjess' post that we will play a new release of "A Wolf by the Ears".
As AtD is quite time consuming, could you precise how many turns and with how much divisions we will be playing?
Thanks.

Wolf is one turn longer than AtD, 25 turns in all. The number of units are about the same for both sides. I've added some arty and some support units but removed some others as well. Playing time is approx. the same as for AtD.

I'm there under the alias "Elmo". A nickname from high school days a loooong time ago.

El Toro and Islander have joined the group so that makes 11.

Will do but please send me an email with the details when you can as I'm saving them all for first round pairings.

Edit - We've added michl (as soon as he sends me his email form), and Graf Starhemberg so that makes 13 so far.

Von Snapphanen is in so we're at 14. Looks like 16 will be the cutoff with maybe an alternate or two if we go over.

Lee,
how about targeting 24 players? If the tournament start is still scheduled for 8th July, I´m quite confident that there will be more signups till then, especially if you advertise the tournie at Matrixgames or the Blitz.

The finals would have to be played in a three player bracket in that case.

I'll be very happy if we get to 24, but entires are coming in slowly so it may not be achievable. The Blitz probably has their own tourneys and I wouldn't want to intrude there with an announcement. I will post something at Matrix when I get a chance.

Count me in if its not too late.

A three bracket touney would be fun for those who make it that far. ... with the final being a free for all.
