MacArthur - Master of Battle Tournament

Postby Robjess » Wed Apr 13, 2005 4:07 pm

In the tradition of the Rommel - Master of Battle; we are now opening registrations for a blind Tournament (ie: the scenario isnt released yet and it wont be released until the Tournament starts!) based upon JSS's 3rd scenario in the series:

MacArthur - Master of Battle.

"Spring 1945: This scenario is a 32 turn campaign for SSG’s Battles in
Normandy. It covers a hypothetical island invasion by the Amphibious Eighth US Army as an island hopping step in preparation for the invasion of the main Japanese Islands.

MacArthur (featuring the Pacific US Army) features a number of famous units not seen before in DBWWII...1st & 4th Marine Divisions, 1st Cav Div, 7th/24th/25th IDs, 11Abn Div & 187th Airborne Regiment...

Overview: Two US Corps (4 Infantry Divisions, 2 Marine Corps Divisions, and an Airborne Division with 2 alert Infantry Divisions) invade an island held by 2 Japanese Infantry Divisions reinforced by 8 separate infantry regiments. US Army Air Force maintains near total air supremacy throughout the battle from off map air bases."

Given that this is a first release blind tournament - no one will be familair with this scenario - except maybe JSS (as scenario designer) and me (as wow that looks great lets use it as a first release tournament) so it should be an even playing field for all!

Now for the technical bits:

Ok Registrations are now open for the MacArthur - Master of Battle Tournament.

The scenario will be made available at the start of the Tournament.

Brackets will be determined based upon the number of players who register. Although we are looking for either a 32 or 64 player Tournament at this stage and we do not anticipate commencing this Tournament until at least May 2005 - you should register early to ensure your spot.

Scenario setttings are as followings:

Scenario: MacArthur Master of Battle ( for Battles in Normandy)
BiN Version: 1.01
Weather: Normal
Combat Advisor: On
Security: On
Replay: On
Unknown Units: Off
All other settings are Normal

You should not register to enter this Tournament unless you are committed to seeing the Tournament through.

To Register, send an email to robjess at :

webmaster@war.robjess.com

and provide the following information:

Put "MacArthur Tournament" in the subject field of the email.
Your Real Name
Your Run5 Forum Name
Your Run5 Combat Leagues Ladder Name
Your Email address that you want the tournament PBEM files sent to
And attached your BIN profile to the email item

A new MacArthur Master of Battle medal will be awarded for participation in this Tournament.

Other rules and things you should be aware of:

- All players must be registered on the Run5 Combat Leagues Ladder
- All games must be based upon the most recent patch available at the commencement of each Round (so in other words if a new patch is made available mid Tournament then all players must adopt and install that new patch when they commence their next round).
- Advancment into Round 2 and subsequent rounds will be based upon the results of the previous round.
- All games must be played in PBEM Security Mode
- All units must be set to hidden
- Combat advisor must be set to on
- All other settings must be set to Normal
- Round 1 opponents will be randomly selected by the Tournament Master/Run5 staff, and once annouced are final
- Subsequent round opponents will be determined by previous round winners
- Players should not register and enter the tournament unless they are able to completed a turn at least each 2-3 days. Preferrably 1 turn a day if possible.
- All players should seek to keep to the above time frames - or Run5 staff/Tournament Master may determine a winner based upon the circumstances of the case if any games are significantly delaying the progress of the Tournament.
- These games are automatically eligible for reporting on the Run5 Combat Leagues Ladder - at the discretion of the winner.
- The winner will be declared Run5 'MacArthur' Champ.. until the next Tournament.

Intel (taken from an Air Recce) reports that the Allies will be seeking to invade the following Island:

As I understand it the Allies need to secure the island along with its airfield to enable strategic bombing of Japan.

The airfield is also critical to the Japanese to ensure that vital supply and reinforcement lines for the defense of the island remain open.

This will be the last Tournament for a little while (couple of months). I specifically planned to have quite a few rolling as I had the time to organise them all at the moment..
