TAO4 Tourney...

Postby Twinkle » Fri Oct 29, 2004 9:59 am

Hi to all of you... a TAO4 tourney would be nice to get going, so I like to have a bit info about your interest of participating in one, before I (most likely) or some other run5 enthusiast starts preparing for one.

This tourney would in addition to normal tourney rules and protocols also introduce Unknown Units Strength and Random Weather as per pre-defined tourney set-up game, i.e., all games will have units valued the same and so on, but everything completely unknown for the participating players. Each round would also start at about the same time, i.e., then most of the previous round games are finished. This means some extra commitment from everyone to get it running smoothly, or more precisely, doing at least one turn every second day.

Please post one reply here if you are interested!, so that I can use the total post count for checking number of possible players. Comments regarding the start up options are also appreciated, even if I almost 100% committed to both Unknown Unit Strength and Random Weather.

Maybe a moderator could turn this into an announcement if enough interest is obtained.

Best regards,
/twinkle ;)

I would be interested as I have time to spare after being knocked out of the Overlord Tournament.

I also would support random weather and random units.

It may be better to await the first patch, which is due out shortly, as the TAO database will be updated slightly. By the time registrations are in and things are ready to go the patch should be out.

Edit: argh CA on for me, hell of a time-saving tool, would never consider playing without it now.

I'll be in it. How random is random unit strength anyway. Could we see double strength panzer units

No CA would be interesting, but would probably be a big disadvantage to the german player. Most TAO games i've played are pretty much decided by turn 8, and its all german attacking. By the time allies need the CA the game will have been decided IMHO.

History is an argument without end
Projects - Iskra (available to download), Stalingrad Pocket (ver101 finished and available to download), Guadalcanal (map done), Guadalajara (playtesting - volounteers?), Napoleonic Borodino (volounteers?)

Switching the CA off makes it a bidding game, not a standard one. If the decision is made to make it a bidding game then the first player decides whether they want to be the Axis or the Allies.

Count me in but I'd vote to have the Combat Advisor; it is a great time saver.
