Another PBEM suggestion

Is it that hard to just change so that all units are placed during turn #0 by the air-drop model for both sides?

Player #1 places his attackers using the airdrop function (one unit at a time, no scatter effect), each division is giving areas that are relatively historical but that allows for tactical changes. And he should of course not move any tromp or set-up at enemy territory (even if some of the areas might go into enemy ground)

Player #2 sets up, doesn't move...

Game starts with player #1 attacking... :D

Might be quite fun and maybe implemented in variants of TAO3, AtD and so on, if someone has the time for that...

There are some rules within the KP Engine at the moment that dont allow for this to happen.. Brubaker and I played around with it to see if we could do a variant based upon both players manually placing all of their troops.

The problem is that Airdrop placement is based upon hex ownership. In KP the engine will only let you drop your units on hexes that you dont control. And furthermore, all hexes have to have control specified to a side otherwise it is considered as an illegal hex when the game starts.

We have made some suggestions to Roger and SSG for Bin, but whether they are adopted will depend upon final that part of the code is.. and whether is it humanly (read Rogerly) possible to do in the time available to get the product to final.

The reality is that SSG cant adopt every suggestion put forward as they only have one programmer at the moment and a world full of people providing ideas and suggestions :)

While it is something I'd like to see, I could certainly wait until the product after BIN comes out.
