Kharkov clarification please

Postby todk » Wed Jun 25, 2014 2:55 am

Could somebody clarify something for me please because I can't find it in the Kharkov manual? What is the downside, if any, of refitting? Of taking replacements? Appreciate any help here.

Under most conditions there is no downside to refitting... given that the unit(s) refitting has no missions you need it to do that turn (cost of refitting is the unit does nothing for the turn).

No cost involved when a step replacement is received via refit. Its a free step replacement if you receive it.

As JSS already mentioned, there's no cost per se.

However, with lower refit values you're more or less gambling and if you have many units that need to refit, determining which units should refit and which units should be at the front becomes very important. That's the main trade-off: you have to keep units in place for them to refit. They do dig in if they can do so, which helps somewhat.

In the system we decided early on not to deal with fatigue in any real sense but incorporated it into a number of different elements. Refit is one of these. If a unit has the time to sit around and do nothing then it would automatically be swooping up elements that float around in any battle context and be increasing its ability to fight.

I very much like the system as it is a way to get the Russian units back into action as they have little in the way of real reinforcements that can be applies directly.
