Hypo, Soviet strong conter against Germans in 41, the GQ did not head for Kiev and risk it all against Moscow gets caught over extended around Vayzma by elements of newly reorganized Soviet tank armies... Germans initially on defense and grow stronger, sovs need to through quick or die

Panzmatt,

please excuse me I am a little Crazy before the big days

Remember when the germans do not take out the 600.000 in the Kiev
pocket they sure not vaporate in the air. So the germans should take
care of their right flank :?

In regards of Battlefront sce..... nice to see Kasserine is in works.
I have Osprey monograph: Kasserine Pass 1943. on my list for
holiday reading. The author is Steven J Zaloga all that man write
is good stuff.

The Bulge could be fine.....it is one of the better HPS PZC and would be
excellent also in our setting. Big but not too big :D

Let me think guys I will be back, must sort out my head at the
moment 8)

Both of these are on my little later down line list.

Hoping to get my Russo-Fin reference when my long term storage items show next week... It provides a perfect data set for a scenario

EDIT: What a drag... items won't be delivered until after New Year's Day

1. Stalingrad - broken down into districts. A particular sector could be one scenario. Looking at the OOB, it can be done. Making a map would be the difficult part.

2. Okinawa

3. Iwo Jima
Never, ever.... ever again!

Gents,

I want many sce. from the East front! Also like sce. with many tank
units. Be adviced that the normal german inf. was not more mobil
than Napoleon's french army in 1812. Static warfare is not the most fun.

East-front battles: Staraya Russa August 1941-Leningrad front
Battle on the Luga river line and approaches of
Leningrad Aug-Sept. 1941
The Battle of Rostov 17 Nov- 3 Dec 1941
The Capture of Crimea 1941 ( but not Sevastopol)
Battle of the Sea of Azov 26sept-7 oct 1941
Kursk- Southern part with the SS-Korps or
Northern with Ponyri.

West-front battles: Sedan France 1940 ( crossing the Meuse )
Alsace 1945

Modern battles: Golan Heights Yom Kippur 1973
Korea War 1950 ( for exampel Inchon or the first part
of the communist offensive or Chosin)

There are much more. But please not forget the Eastern front :!:

A few ideas on less-covered battles...

Spanish Civil War - battle of Madrid, battles along the Ebro, reduction of Gobernitos... many possibilities here.

Silberfuchs - Failed German offensive from Far North Norway to take Murmansk (only battle where Russian forces held their ground in 1941...)

Allied invasion of Italian East Africa - Keren, etc.

Hypothetical German attack on Czechoslovakia, 1938

Narvik - historical, and with some variants (ie, Allies stick around and Germans are forced to evict them in summer 1940, ...) Also, a hypothetical Allied invasion of Norway in 1943.

Italian attack on Greece; German operation Marita.

Operation Nordwind

Invasion of Holland 1940 (a desparate battle that Germany came very close to losing)

Kalkin-Gol would be interesting, although the map would be very boring! So many miles of empty steppe...

Imphal-Kohima

British attack on Mareth line in Tunisia

Syria 1941 would be interesting, especially with variants (ie, Germans send in a light division and a few squadrons of stukas, etc.)

Final Russian offensive against Finns, 1944.

My "Red Parachutes" (Kanev 1943) game is perfectly scaled to be a good Battlefront scenario, but it would probably be too much work for me to put together.

JSS,

in regards of the Winter War. Is it perhaps The Battle of Suomissalmi,
that is the best one. I have seen photos from that battle quite chilling
long colonnes of russian soldiers with all hard ware and horses wiped
out. Covered with snow many frozed to death.. looks ghost... a whole
division. The finnish side had only a few hundred fallen the russian side
28000!
