Warlords Battlecry 1 files not hosted on ssg site anymore?

Postby (wbc)Patrick » Mon Aug 22, 2011 7:03 am

Hello,
I am new to this forum and so couldn't find a better spot to start this thread. I apologize for any inconveniences.

Long ago, probably near the year of 2000, the ssg site (ssg.com.au) hosted some warlords battlecry 1 sountrack files. Now these soundtracks weren't released in the original game (hence they've been used only in the cinematics which are prerendered .bik files that have the audio meshed up with video) but they were posted on the site for fans. The author of them is Steve Fawkner (naturally) and the files were named after the classes found in the game(fighter, assassin, etc.). That's about all the info I can give.

People are crazy over these files, and there's a pretty huge bunch of people that have been looking for these files for quite some time. Question is, does anybody still have these files or does anybody know their whereabouts?
Thought I should try a post here before sending an email to Mr. Fawkner. Any help would be much appreciated.

I will have a look through my backups and see what I can do. I have recently shifted houses so this may take a short while as I am unpacking boxes every day.

Still looking ... you don't know how many boxes I have from moving house .. and the labels were good at the start but sort of degenerated over time.

Three years later and a lot of water under the bridge. I have the sound files for TLB and an early Warlords game but that is all. I am meeting with Steve Fawkner in a couple of weeks and can pass on your request then if you would like.

Over to you... BTW I am not a sound person, which Steve definitely is, and I have been finding all sorts of things in my backups but not enough. We have individuals who are now after any information to how Reach for the Stars was made, and a number of games after that. My brain is only so good so I am going to claim age and not a lot of funds as an excuse and think of making that next game which may have an impact on the world.

I am also a Game Design teacher and if you could see the talent in the young these days you would be amazed. Although, if we keep playing 'Flappy Bird' then I don't know what I will do.

We are patching the web site, forums and the run5 pdf's are available from http://playitagainproject.org/companies ... p-pty-ltd/

Hope this helps.

Really cool stuff, thank you for sharing. If you do have the time, please ask him about those Warlords Battlecry soundtracks. They were awesome!
