Run5 Medal System

Postby Robjess » Sun Feb 15, 2004 1:49 pm

We are going to introduce 'Medals' for Tournament and Ladder play.

Annoucement will be locked and used only to advise people of when a new medal has been released (usually to coincide with a new Tournament).

What is the Medal System?

Medals optional and up to each individual user to decide if they would like to take part - if you do want to take part in it, then this Annoucement will step you through how to set it all up on your Run5 account. If you think its a silly idea and dont want to take part - thats fine also, simply dont follow the steps detailed below.

We are introducing Medals as another reward for Tournament and Ladder play, and also to showcase your successes and 'Tours of Duty'. A Medal will be awarded for each Tournamant that you take part in, and also for either winning or being a runner up for a Tournament. In addition to this you will receive a medal each time you go HOT on the Run5 Combat Leagues Ladder.

There is no maxium number of Medals you can acquire, and over time the medals you are awarded will be able to be show cased as a reflection of your "Tours of Duty" within Run5 Tournaments and Ladder Performance.

As stated above, whether you decide to showcase your medals or take part in them at all is entirely up to you.

Medals that you have been awarded will been awarded will be displayed via your SIG (Signature) in these Run5 Forums. As you are awarded medals it will be a simple case of inserting some code into your Sig via your User Profile. But more on this in a moment.

What are the Medals?

The following Medals will be awarded in the following circumstances.

Image Awarded to the Runner Up in a Tournament.

Image Awarded to the Winner in a Tournament.

Image Awarded to a player when they are HOT (have won 5 games in a row) on the Ladder.

Image Awarded for participation in a TAO Tournament.

Image Awarded for participation in a Korsun Pocket Tournament.

Image Awarded for participation in the Rommel - Master of Battle Tournament.

Image Awarded for participation in the Across the Dnepr/Wolf by the Ears Tournament.

Image Awarded for participation in the Overlord Tournament.

New Medals will be added to this list over time as it is deemed appropriate.

How Do I Showcase my Medals?

Whilst Medals will be awarded to users by Run5 Staff - the display of the medals will be relied upon an honour system. In other words, we expect users only to show case actual medals that they have won and been awarded.

To show case a medal all you simply need to do is insert the appropriate img tag in your Sig. When you are awarded a medal, we will send you the img code which you will then use to insert that medal into your signature. Its a simple as that! Because its so simple - the system is open to abuse, we therefore ask everyone not to abuse the process of adding and showcase medals to your sig - please only show those which you have actually been awarded.

To Show Case a Medal:

Click on Profile on the Menu at the top of the page. This will take you to your Run5 Discussion Forum User Profile settings.

Scroll down to Signature and then in the signature box, enter the IMG information relating to each of the medals. This IMG information will be made available to you as you are awarded a medal.

Then Scroll further down the page, and then click on the YES radio button next to the "Always attach my signature:" setting.

Finally click on Submit. Now whenever you post a message on the forums your Sig will be attach to the bottom of each of your messages and any medals you have been awarded will be included.

Note: The medals we are using are actual graphical representations of real medals awarded to those soldiers who fought throughout the history of time. Where possible the Medals which we use will be tied to the purposes to which the actual medal was awarded.

We mean no disrespect to any of the recipients of these medals in real life and in no way is our use of the medals in this manner meant to be anything other then our acknowledgement of the true value, significance and deepest respect of those men and women who were awarded such.

Those players who took part in Round 1 of the TAO Tournament have been awarded the the TAO Tour of Duty Medal and may added it to their Sig by inserting the following code:

Code: Select all

If you have any difficulty in adding this medal to your Sig, then please PM me or post a message in this thread

Just a reminder, if you are taking part in the showcase of Medals, it is your responsibility to contact me (robjess) if/when you go Hot on the ladder if you want a medal to reflect such..

This email relates to everyone who is displaying their medals as part of their sig.

Due to recent upgrades to the Forums, you will need to now change the reference to the medal images in your sigs, you need to do this as the old medal files will eventually be deleted.

For each medal that you are show casing you need to change the following code:

Code: Select all
[img]http://www.robjess.com/forums/images/Medals/Medal-Name.gif[/img]

Your new code should look something like this:

Code: Select all
[img]http://ssg.com.au/forums/images/Medals/Medal-Name.gif[/img]

You will know that it has successfully worked, if after you make the changes, you can still see your medals in any posts that have your sig attached.

Note that I have update the Tournament Winners and Runners up medals so that they stand out more from the Tour of Duty Tournament medals.

Update to Medals

Postby Robjess » Mon Jan 10, 2005 2:12 pm

Hi guys,

With the forums now running off of ssg.com.au - the location of all of the medals has now changed. Could I ask you all please to update your sigs to reflect the new location of the medals.

The medals now live at "http://ssg.com.au/forums/images/Medals/"

The old address was "http://robjess.com/forum/images/Medals/"

So you will need to change the robjess.com/forum/ part to now read ssg.com.au/forums/ for each of your medals.

If you get stuck, then read through the top part of this thread as I have update all of the addresses. Furthermore if you still get stuck send me a private message and I will be happy to help you out..

If you win more then 15 Hot medals - then you really should be spending more time with your wife/girlfriend/partner :)

Finally, perhaps the most important medal a player can ever win--the Medal of Honor. This is awarded only once to any player who has achieved an amazing streak of 15 wins in a row. At this time only three players have earned this great distinction: Stevel40831, Fantasin and Kingpin.

This messages will be updated as and when new Tour of Duty/Tournament Medals are created. Again I would like to thank Pterrok for his great art and design work.

Could all users please update their medals as detailed above.
