Wow, really? Why? I can't imagine playing without it. I've got to believe your game would improve considerably. no matter how good you are.

Fantassin, while it doesn't SEEM like you've used the Combat Advisor to know when you could roar through my Allied lines to kill arty and support units behind the front lines, have you? If so, then I think I see why Rob said no CA--so that the Allies would stand a chance against a good Axis player! ;-)

In which case I could deal with it being off. (And of course, then I'd draw the Axis vs Tempest in the first round! Sigh.)

Visibly I still have something to do against those petty arty practicing against my West Wall

Personnally, I always play with CA on but never follow its suggestions. I just use it to get some feedback about new opportunities for which I could adjust my strategy.

Playing Axis with CA off would certainly be more handicaping to novice and intermediate players than good ones.

I am not bitching, but since there is the ability too complete a turn and then replay the entire turn in a secure game I think ALL tourny games should wait for the patch which will hopefully fix this. BTW I am being soundly beaten and in no way am implying myoponent is cheating, I am losing do too being hamstrung early with about a 75% run of critical die cast as 1's...
WAAAH.. me crying can you feel my tears lol

Well, Roger did after all suggest us to wait until the patch is out, so I will do that, as well as compiling a list of tourney combatants then I'm home from work. So expect me to wrie up some info for how to secure your tourney spot and so on later today.
Regarding CA, I would say that using unknown unit strength is enough as it very effectively prevents the axis player from moving units back and forth during the start up in order to calculate combat odds. My gut feeling is that CA off will you prolong the turns, not really change anything. However, CA off could be nice for a smaller scenario of the addition of a turn-time limit is added... playing WW without CA, just having 10 min (or maybe less) for each turn would be extremely fun. Back to TAO4, so this tourney will use the unknown unit strength option as well as the random weather option. And as Pterrok informed us: the random weather doesn’t go random before turn 7 or was it 8, so don't expect any early snow to help the German side.

Regards

Yo Twinkle

I'm in for the tournament, provided I dont do anything silly like throw myself off a cliff following GWB's re-election.

You know I love Sweden right?

In. CA: off. Yes... off. Let's see what many players do without it. Playing more by intuition is always more interesting, unless someone actually ends up doing the math for every move. That's just neurotic.

I'm in!

Postby Eric Le Saux » Wed Nov 03, 2004 6:10 pm

I finally took Carentan from Troutie in the Overlord tournament! Hey wait... it's turn 30 of 32. Ah well, I guess I don't need a recount to see the result of that one.

Please count me in for this tournament in the Ardennes. I want to practice what I just learned (dearly) on the beaches of Normandy.
