Newbie seeking First Title

Postby papajack » Thu Apr 08, 2010 9:51 am

Newcomer to the series and finally decided to give it a try

I read somewhere in the forum , it is best to start with TAO and to BIN & BII

Since BIN do have TAO , so will this a good buy as a starting title
(Eventually , I will buy them all )

Cheers

Buy Kharkov and ATD2 1st - you will not be disappointed. The other games are great in their own right but for what its worth ATD2 is the best of the bunch and Kharkov a close second.
History is an argument without end
Projects - Iskra (available to download), Stalingrad Pocket (ver101 finished and available to download), Guadalcanal (map done), Guadalajara (playtesting - volounteers?), Napoleonic Borodino (volounteers?)

I think BiI is the best of the bunch although with the new scenarios Kharkov/ATD2 is probably the way to go since new scenarios are being created for this version of the system.

BiI offers some great user-made scenarios, and it was the last of the SSG games to have artillery support troops (odds shifts) instead of directly attack units to cause step losses. The new games feel too deadly in a way to me. Instead of having low strength units hanging around you have lots of units just completely killed off - it's too deadly for my taste - having hundreds of units completely eliminated in a scenario is not uncommon I guess.

But I still play Kharkov/ATD and I like it ok as well.
