Unit values

Postby mttodd » Fri Aug 07, 2009 8:30 am

I am new to BIN so apologies if following questions are basic-

1)The US cavalry values are very similar to the M4 armoured unit, I am no
expert but I would of thought that the M4 unit should be stronger

2)Also the units with the highest attack values are most often the mechanised units but should they not be the tank units ?

Many thanks for any help on the above.

US recon units

Postby mttodd » Tue Aug 11, 2009 12:34 am

Thanks for replying (I was getting worried)

I like playing BIN a lot but if units do not reflect their historical value then that can only detract from the game.

If anyone can answer my original question as to why US recon units have very similar attack value to M4 units that would be great.

Many thanks.

The basic attack values are quite similar, but the tank units have higher shock values - in your example the M4s have 3 and the recon units 2.
In an attack that meets the requirements for a shock bonus to come in effect the tanks with the higher value will add +1 to the combat roll.

The cavalry reconnaissance squadron is a light infantry battalion mounted on armored cars and jeeps and augmented with a light tank(M5) company and 2 sections of assault guns.

Also keep in mind that US tanks were not that great, as there were no US heavy tanks available in Europe at the time, which is why their combat stats are lower than those of the Germans.

What surprised me in both BiI and BiN is that outdated tanks like R35's get fairly good attack values.
