Sat 27Dec 2003 | Kreta Version 2.00 Released

Brubaker has provided us with an updated version of his custom user scenario "Kreta". This brings the current version of the scenario to version 2.00

I would recommend that everyone updates to this latest version - there are some significant changes - which make this scenario even more thrilling then it was before. The latest version can be found from the Scenarios Section.

Click below for a summary of changes/updates in this version.

I would like to thank Brubaker for making this scenario available on Run5 and to all Run5 readers!

CHANGES FROM v1.x to v2.0

- Most importantly, unit values now more realistically reflect the value of that unit to their respective forces. Therefore, paratrooper and armour units are much more valuable than before. Protect them!

- Antitank and AntiAir units are now designated support units as per v1.1 of the KP game engine.

- Commonwealth artillery and mortar units now work correctly.

- Scoring altered slightly to make victory (for either side) easier.

- Minor changes to the drop zones in the Manual Air Drop variant to allow more flexibility in planning.

- New supply source added in the Allied southern central zone.

Great scenario this one, thanks !

I've only just had my first game , as the Germans with the manual airdrop, and it was very enjoyable.

As per usual I did find it a tad easy , simply because the CPU made such attrocious use of his few armoured assets and as such I was able to really punish him.

One positive note for the CPU - he kept me from taking the airfield for quite some time (8 turns or so) which really hurt me in the first part of the game , keeping me on the back foot all the time whilst trying to clear the drop sites.

Additionally the CPU did seem to defend reasonably well e.g. placing detachments to force me to spend extra time surrounding his vastly outnumbered units and defending his HQ and artillery units reasonably well (in most cases at least !).

I now intend to replay it as the Commonwealth forces and see if I can make better use of those scout cars ;-)
